Andrew Micalef
Acrobatics
Since starting his training in 1989 at Attitudes Dance Studio, in the styles of Jazz, Tap and Neo Classical, Andrew has a number of achievements to his name. His passion for tumbles, Aerial work and stunt became progressively apparent and under the tuition of Samantha Vella (artistic Director at the time to the Watsonia WMCA gymnastic and Acrobatic Courses), Andrew continued to harness and perfect his skills.
After studying Certificate III in per-forming arts at Bartuccios Dance and Promotions Centre at the age of 16, it was not long until Andrew was dancing professionally. Some of his highlights include 'The Wog Boy' (Feature Film), 'Godspell' (Musical), TV Week Logie Awards (Back Up Dancer for Ricky Martin) and 'Moulin Rouge' (Feature Film) aw well as many others.
Andrew was offered full scholarship to Dance Factory full time dance school in 1999 but chose to stay with Bartuccios. Andrew was then given a government grant from the St Kilda Arts Department for setting up a dance program for under privileged children. This was the first time Andrew had a taste for teaching children. After completing a few more contracts, Andrew decided that his passion for teaching had lead him to teaching full time at various schools in Melbourne and then decided to open his own school in Melton.
Andrew is frequently invited to choreograph various events throughout Melbourne. With experience from every aspect of dance, Andrew enjoys collaborating with his hand picked staff and creating the future of dance.
